Betco® Advances Sustainable Cleaning Through Major Investment

Aug 26, 2026

Bowling Green, OH – Betco® Corporation (“Betco”), a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals for more than 75 years, announced the completion of a major investment in the future of sustainable cleaning through the expansion of EnviroZyme®, its wholly owned subsidiary and global leader in microbial technologies.

Located on the Betco campus, the project increased overall production capacity by 3.5 times through significant investments in fermentation, packaging, warehouse space, and technical capabilities. The EnviroZyme facility’s footprint also grew by 75%, adding 15,400 square feet to support continued innovation across Betco’s EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions product line.

"In less than eight years since opening the EnviroZyme facility in Bowling Green, we've reached another major milestone in our growth," said Brad Betz, President and CEO. "By strengthening EnviroZyme's capabilities, we've strengthened the technology behind our EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions while creating new opportunities to deliver innovative cleaning solutions that perform better, support healthier facilities, and contribute to a more sustainable future."

Advancing Cleaning Performance and Specialized Solutions

With the expansion complete, Betco is well positioned to continue advancing its probiotic technologies with more specialized microbial strains, longer-lasting cleaning performance, and future product innovations tailored to evolving customer needs. The investment doubled fermentation tank capacity, providing greater scale and flexibility to support the development and production of these microbial technologies.

Because Betco develops and ferments its own proprietary bacteria through EnviroZyme, the company selects specialized strains for specific soils and applications while maintaining complete control over quality, from research and development through the finished product.

"This expansion wasn't simply about increasing capacity," said Matt Luchansky, Vice President of Operations. "It strengthened the scientific and manufacturing foundation behind our probiotic technologies, giving us greater flexibility to develop specialized solutions that deliver enhanced cleaning performance while advancing healthier, more sustainable facilities."

Expanding Environmental Benefits and Healthier Facilities

The expansion also strengthened Betco's ability to develop sustainable cleaning technologies that improve facility health while reducing environmental impact. Enhanced microbial capabilities improve the breakdown of fats, oils, and grease, helping protect plumbing, septic, and sewer systems from costly buildup. Advanced probiotic formulations eliminate odors at their source rather than masking them, providing longer-lasting odor control across a growing range of applications.

In addition, the facility also supports continued research into competitive exclusion, the natural ability of beneficial bacteria to outcompete undesirable microorganisms. As this research advances, it creates new opportunities to reduce reliance on harsher chemistries while promoting healthier indoor environments and more sustainable cleaning programs.

This investment reflects Betco's long-term commitment to innovation, sustainable product development, and customer success. By strengthening the science behind its EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions, Betco continues to deliver advanced cleaning technologies that help customers improve facility performance while building a cleaner, healthier future.
